26 August 2014

Twitter, one of the most popular international social networks, will expand its advertising service, Twitter Ads, to 12 new markets in Europe, including Romania, the company announced on Tuesday, August 26. This will allow companies in Romania to promote their brands and services on the social network.

“Today, we’re excited to announce the expansion of Twitter Ads to 12 additional markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and in Portugal. Our new markets include: Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine and Portugal,” said Ali Jafari, Twitter’s VP of direct sales for Europe.

“There has been tremendous growth in this region over the last year, and Twitter Ads will now be available in 35 EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets through direct sales support teams and reseller partnerships,” he added.

Although it is popular worldwide, Twitter had less than 100,000 users in Romania, compared to 6.6 million Facebook users, according to statistics at the end of last year.

Twitter is an online social networking and micro blogging service that enables users to send and read short 140-character text messages, called "tweets".
