Two associations of construction companies have the biggest chances to get the contracts for repairing the roads in Bucharest’s six districts in the next four years, reveals an investigation by News.ro.

Bucharest’s municipality will pay EUR 53.3 million for the works, namely almost EUR 9 million for each district.

The association Straco & Strabag will be in charge of repairing the roads in four districts, whereas Telor Invest&Pro Cons XXI will take over other two districts. Both joint ventures have made the lowest offers at the public tender launched last year.

According to the documents obtained by news.ro, Telor Invest & Pro Cons XXI is supported by the company Tehnologica Radion that belongs to the local investor Theodor Berna. He was prosecuted in November 2014, in a file of tax evasion and money laundering, with a damage of EUR 100 million.

Straco SRL & Strabag SRL is supported by the Straco Grup that became insolvent in August 2015. The name Straco also appears in the corruption file of the former District 1 mayor Andrei Chiliman.
