Two Greek citizens, arrested for alleged ovule trafficking in Romania
The owner of a health clinic in Timisoara and the chief of the lab, both Greek citizens, were arrested for 24 hours and today await the court decision on the 30-day arrest.
The two are accused to have harvested ovules from young women, and then implanted them into surrogate mothers, benefitting infertile couples. The doctors are believed to have paid EUR 300 to harvest ovules form young women.
The medical director of the clinic however denied having been involved in ovule trafficking, which is illegal in Romania.
