Two new slopes open in Romania’s Busteni mountain resort with over EUR 0.8 mln

Two new slopes opened and an artificial snow installation plus a night lighting system were added on Saturday (February 11) in Romania’s Busteni mountain resort, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The total value of the investment was of to over EUR 850,000 (RON 3.7 million), of which EUR 570,000 (RON 2.5 million) were covered by European funding, under the Regional Operational Program. According to the Ministry of Tourism, “with the new facilities, the resort's ski area doubles its surface”.

The new ski slope, Kalinderu 2, has a total length of 1.2 km, a medium degree of difficulty, and has an artificial snow installation. Also, a 250 m sledding slope was opened last weekend in Busteni, while the resort’s old ski slope, Kalinderu 1, was equipped with a night lightning system.

Romania’s Ministry of Tourism invested around EUR 114 million (RON 500 million) in the development of tourism and sports infrastructure in the Romanian mountain cities and resorts. In the last two years 12 new slopes were opened, while 15 others were extended and revamped. Moreover, nine new cable transports and 21 artificial snow installation were built.
