Two Romanian documentaries screening at Millennium Film Festival in Brussels
Two Romanian documentaries have been selected for the official competition of the Millennium International Documentary Film Festival in Brussels, which runs until June 9, according to Romania's Cultural Institute (ICR) in Brussels . The two films 24 găleţi, 7 şoareci, 18 ani/24 Buckets, 7 Mice, 18 Years (2012) and Pe drumuri neumblate/Off The Beaten Track (2011), (in picture) directed by Marius Iacob and Dieter Auner respectively will be screening at the Cinéma Vendome on Saturday, June 8, at 17:15.
Marius Iacob's documentary looks at a family of Romanian miners who dream of winning the lottery, but whose normal routines are disrupted by the arrival of some curious tourists. Pe drumuri neumblate/Off The Beaten Track by Dieter Auner follows a young Romanian shepherd, who, like many other Romanians, emigrates to Western Europe looking for a new life.
The Millennium Festival is the biggest documentary film event in Belgium and is now in its fifth year. This time round, the festival features over 100 films from more than 50 countries. This year's event is the first in which Romania's Cultural Institute has been a partner.
