Two Romanian films nominated for the European Film Awards 2015
Romanian films Aferim! directed by Radu Jude and Toto Si Surorile Lui (Toto And His Sisters) directed by Alexander Nanau have been nominated for this year’s edition of the European Film Awards (EFA).
While Radu Jude and Florin Lazarescu are nominated for their screenplay for Aferim!, Toto And His Sisters is nominated in the documentary category. Watch the movies' trailers below.
The European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced the nominations at the Seville European Film Festival.
Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth has five nominations, including film, directing and screenplay, as well as acting nominations for Rachel Weisz and Michael Caine. Roy Andersson's A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence and Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster also got four nominations each.
Victoria, a film directed by Sebastian Schipper, and 45 Years directed by Andrew Haigh received three nominations each. The other nominations are Mustang directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven, Rams directed by Grímur Hákonarson, Eric Lartigeau’s The Belier Family, Jaco Van Dormael’s The Brand New Testament, My Mother directed by Nanni Moretti, Ex Machina directed by Alex Garland, and Małgorzata Szumowska’s Body.
The nominations list also includes 13 Minutes, The Measure of a Man, A Syrian Love Story, Amy, Dancing with Maria, and The Look of Silence.
More than 3,000 EFA Members will now vote for the winners who will be presented during the awards ceremony to be organized on December 12 in Berlin. Find more information here.
