Eurimages is the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe. Established in 1989, it currently numbers 36 of the 47 member states. It promotes the European audiovisual industry and has an annual budget of EUR 25 million.
Radu Jude's Aferim (2014) is a historic movie whose action takes place in the 19th century, and is based in the Tara Romaneasca historic province.
The second feature length film financed by Eurimages, Cristian, by Tudor Giurgiu, tells the story of a young idealistic prosecutor who tries to solve a complicated corruption case.
