Two thirds of Romanian drivers aim for second-hand cars, German brand preferred

Around two thirds of Romanian drivers prefer to buy second-hand cars, while 12 percent want a new car and the rest are undecided, found a recent study issued by Auto.ro and Daedalus Millward Brown market research company.

The preference for second – hand cars grew by 15 percentage points compared to 2010, while plans to buy new cars registered a 10 percentage point set back, according to Bogdan Axinia, general manager of Auto.ro.

Romanians favor German car brands, with Volkswagen on top, followed by Opel and BMW. The study also revealed that young people search for second-hand cars online and at auto fairs, while older car buyers go to car dealers and look in newspaper classifieds.
