UPC’s sales up 7% in first quarter in Romania on internet revenues boost
Cable and telecom operator UPC saw its revenues up 7 percent in the first quarter of the year in Romania, to some USD 37 million, it recently announced. This was mainly due to the increase in the internet segment, which generated more than half of the revenue increase, according to UPC Romania.
The company, owned by American group Liberty Global, will continue to focus on the internet segment, said Severina Pascu, CEO UPC Romania and Hungary.
UPC has 6 percent more subscriptions in the first quarter, to some 1.8 million, while its clients base was up by 10,000, to some 1.17 million.
Its revenues were up 20 percent in the internet segment in the first quarter, when it managed to sell 15 percent more Fiber Power internet subscriptions.
