The US Ambassador to Bucharest Hans Klemm believes that Romania needs to set new strategic objectives for the future, as the country currently lacks a vision.

“I know that in 1990, after the Revolution, the Romanians set two objectives: to join NATO, in order to ensure security and safety in the region, and to enter the European Union, in order to join the European market. After completing these two objectives, Romania hasn’t had a vision for its future and for the generations to come. Maybe it’s time Romania set a new objective,” Klemm said, reports local Digi24.

The American diplomat thinks that Romania should aim that in the next 20 years it becomes the 6th richest country in the EU, or as rich as France.
