Vaccination program against bluetongue disease in Romania

27 October 2014

A vaccination program against the bluetongue disease will be carried out in Romania next year, according to the Romanian Minister of Agriculture Daniel Constantin, reports local Agerpres.

He added that it’s possible some non-EU countries will ban imports from Romania for 2 years, under international regulations.

“We’ve already started diplomatic missions. (…) We want to convince them that we can make that quarantine centers and if the animal has no symptoms for 30 days, it can be exported as livestock,” said the minister.

The bluetongue disease affected 1,895 animals from 254 villages in 26 counties in Romania.
