Video games producers halt expansion in Romania

The big video games producers that have development centers in Romania stopped their expansion last year, after recruiting hundreds of young programmers and game testers in the previous years.

Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, and King had 2.963 employees in Romania in 2015, down from 3,017 in 2014, according to official financial data reported at the Finance Ministry, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.

French developer Ubisoft had 1,220 employees, 95 fewer compared to 2014 while French group Gameloft added 17 people to its local team, which reached 1,180 employees.

Some 5,000 people worked last year in the local video gaming industry, according to estimates from the top players.
