Villa proposed to Romania's ex-President, up for sale for EUR 4 mln

The state-owned Villa 11 from Snagov, that the Government has proposed to former Romanian President Traian Basescu as a residence after ending his mandate, along with six other houses, was put up for sale through an open outcry auction for a price starting at EUR 3.7 million (VAT included), reports local Wall-street.ro.

The villa stretches over a 1,702 sqm usable area, and includes a 183 sqm administrative building, an office building of 58.41 sqm and a surrounding piece of land of 27,412 sqm.

The Government presented Basescu in December a list of seven houses that he could use as residence after his presidential mandate ended, including two villas in Snagov. According to the Romanian law, former heads state benefit of life-long, free protocol housing.
