Vodafone relaunches Romanian digital book shop with virtual book signing
Telecom company Vodafone Romania and the publishing house Humanitas relaunched their digital book shop service, which is offering 500 new titles for download to mobile devices. The launch event featured virtual book signings with writer Mircea Cartarescu, who digitally autographed copies of his new book The Brown Eyes of Our Love/Ochiul caprui al dragostei noastre last night (February 12 ). The service is available from Vodafone in the Piata Victoriei metro station and Vodafone's shop in AFI Palace Cotroceni.
This second version of the digital book shop is running in cooperation with online store elefant.ro. Users of any mobile network can download 12 full books, as well as tasters of the books via QR codes in the two locations free of charge. The full eBooks can then be bought online from the Vodafone, Humanitas or elefant.ro sites. The whole content of the library can be found on bibliotecapemobil.ro.
The collection includes both Romanian authors and writers from the international literature scene. The international selection leans towards the classics, with works by Dostoyevsky, Shakespeare, James Joyce, Tolstoy, Virginia Woolf and Edgar Allan Poe included, all of them in Romanian.
the project is being developed by Vodafone Romania and Humanitas, together with elefant.ro, with the help of the metro operator Metrorex and of the advertising agency McCann Erickson Romania.
