Vodafone Romania's clients can text their way into the Bucharest metro system

Customers of telecom company Vodafone Romania can pay up to ten metro trips via text message starting today (January 30), according to the company. In the first stage, the service is available in seven metro stops, namely Victoriei Square, Universitate, Gara de Nord, Timpuri Noi, Politehnica, Grozavesti and Petrache Poenaru.

People that want to pay just for one trip will have to text a message to the number 7477, for EUR 0.5  - without VAT, while those who want to pay for two trips will have to send a SMS to 7492, for EUR 0.9 - without VAT. For ten trips, the Vodafone costumer can text a message to the number 7490, and will pay EUR 2.2 - without VAT.

Once the trip paid, people have to call 1700 free of charge and get the phone close to the validation device during the call.

Vodafone Romania, part of Vodafone Group Plc, had over 8.5 million registered customers at September 30, 2011.
