Romanian online tour operator sees double-digit growth in 2017

Romanian online tour operator Vola.ro sold holidays and plane tickets worth EUR 60.7 million in 2017, up by 24% compared to 2016.

The company thus increased its turnover by 13%, to EUR 6.65 million.

Vola.ro sold 19% more plane tickets in 2017. The average price was EUR 134, with the cheapest being a EUR 2.98 ticket for the Milan-Bucharest route while the most expensive was a EUR 7,400 ticket for a round trip from Tokyo to Bucharest.

Most tourists who booked flights via Vola.ro chose Wizz Air, Tarom, Blue Air and Ryanair, according to the company. The top destinations for Romanians in 2017 were Italy, UK, Germany, Spain and Belgium, while the fastest-growing destinations were Iceland, Morocco and Israel.

The average price of holidays sold on the Vola.ro platform was EUR 530 per person while the average price for city breaks was EUR 212 per person. The most expensive holiday was EUR 4,575 for a group of four people who spent nine days on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

The top destinations for city breaks were Rome, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, and Dubai.
