Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis continues to lead the trust ranking while the central bank governor Mugur Isarescu and Prime Minister Victor Ponta have lost some of the people’s confidence over the last five months.

Some 65% of Romanians say they trust President Iohannis, up from 60% in December 2014 and 35% in October 2014, before the presidential elections, according to a recent survey made by research company INSCOP.

Romania’s National Bank Governor Mugur Isarescu ranks second in the confidence ranking with 40.1% of Romanians saying they trust him, down from 45.7% in December 2014.

People’s confidence in Prime Minister Victor Ponta also dropped in recent months, to 24.4% (from 26.1% in December and 38.7% in October, before the presidential elections). Ponta lost the third place in the ranking to the former Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) director George Maior.

Almost a quarter of Romanians (24.8%) say the trust Maior, up from 19% in December 2014. Maior was recently nominated for Romanian ambassador to the U.S.

People’s trust in Bucharest’s mayor Sorin Oprescu has also dropped, from 23% in December 2014, to 20.1%.

Romanians have also lost confidence in former President Traian Basescu, after he stepped down from office. Only 15.6% of the respondents to the survey said they trust Basescu, down from 20.7% in December.

The Liberals’ Prime Minister candidate Catalin Predoiu surpassed Basescu, as 15.7% of Romanians say they trust him.

Confidence in former tourism minister and presidential candidate Elena Udrea tanked, as she was arrested for corruption in February. She only has the trust of 4.1% of Romanians, down from 8.4% in December and 14% in October.

INSCOP made the survey at the request of Adevarul newspaper. More than 1,000 people answered in the survey which has a margin for error of 3%.
