Winter is getting harder: Weather alert for rain, snow and strong wind in Romania
Romania’s Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Monday, December 8, a Code Yellow alert for rain, snow, ice and strong wind for several counties in Romania and the capital Bucharest.
The alert is valid between December 8, 23:00, and December 10, 10:00. In this period, the precipitations will extend from the South, gradually covering most areas in the country.
The counties targeted by the weather alert are Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Mures, Harghita, Suceava, Neamt, Iasi, Bacau, Vaslui, Brasov, Covasna, Vrancea, Galati, Sibiu, Mehedinti, Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzau, Braila, Dolj, Olt, Ialomita, Calarasi, Teleorman, Ilfov and Giurgiu, as well as the capital Bucharest.
It will rain heavily in Muntenia and Oltenia, the amounts of water being estimated at 25-50 liters per sqm.
It will also rain in Moldova area, but here the rain is expected to turn into snow, according to ANM’s estimates. Snow is also expected in the mountain areas, while the wind will blow with 55-60 km per hour in some areas in the South-East.
