Work halt for Orastie – Sibiu highway segment in Romania on lack of permit
Romania hasn’t finished nor inaugurated any new highway segment this year, and work on a highway froze two months before completion. The Orastie – Sibiu highway should have been inaugurated on November 15, but work has been halted. The construction company has not been paid, and a construction permit is still missing, according to Digi24.
However, Prime Minster Victor Ponta promised the highway will be ready in two months, and officially, work has not been halted. Work on the Sibiu-Orăștie highway segment started in 2011, and three segments of this highway were finished in 2013. The remaining segment, Sălişte-Cunţa, was affected by landslides, which should have been fixed by stabilizing a hill. In reality, nothing has been done to this end.
