World Class takes over its main competitor in Romania
World Class, the largest chain of wellness clubs in Romania, has signed an agreement to take over the fitness service operator Club Sport Fitness Center MV, the second largest player in the market based on the number of active centers.
The fitness network has entered the local market in 2010 whereas World Class has been active in Romania since 2000.
World Class, which is owned by the investment fund Resource Partners, has 19 clubs in Bucharest, Timisoara, and Cluj-Napoca. In 2014 it had a turnover of EUR 9.6 million.
Club Sport Fitness Center MV has been part of the French group Moving. It operates nine clubs in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Ploiesti, Bacau, Craiova, Otopeni-Ilfov. The company had a cumulative turnover of EUR 6.6 million between 2010 and 2014.
Following the acquisition, World Class will have 28 clubs in Romania.
