A young Canadian citizen, aged 23, tried to steal an expensive ring from a jewelry store located at the ground floor of the Unirea Shopping Center downtown Bucharest. The price of the ring is RON 15,000 (some EUR 3,400), reports local Digi24.

The Canadian entered the jewelry store and asked to see several rings, but when the saleswoman handed him the ring, he tried to run away with it.

“I noticed there is something wrong with him since he entered the store. I warned everybody and he was caught very quickly,” said the saleswoman, cited by Digi24.

After a short fight with the security guards, the man was taken into police custody, which decided to detain him for 24 hours. If found guilty, he risks to spend between 2 and 7 years in jail in Romania.
