Minister: 90,000 children in Romania with both parents working abroad
There are currently some 90,000 children in Romania with both parents out of the country for work, labor minister Marius Budăi said.
“We, the authorities, do not want this [e.n. the children also leaving the country]. This is why we have this concern and all these measures related to encouraging the labor force […], for instance the ones related to the construction sector unions for a higher minimum wage,” Budăi said, quoted by Mediafax.
The minister explained that the authorities are trying, through various programs and by creating jobs, to attract the Romanians working abroad back to the country.
“We are trying to organize job fairs. I am disappointed we couldn’t do it in February but the market wasn’t ready. At this point, we have over 300 jobs posted in the Eures network, on our website, of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM). We are glad that 50 people have closed contracts to return to the country from these 300 jobs,” he explained.
