UTI Facility Management installs baggage scanners worth EUR 11 mln at several Romanian airports

UTI Facility Management, a company of the UTI Group that implements complex systems and provides services for the largest airports in Romania and the region, announced the installation of baggage scanners worth more than EUR 11 million at several airports in Romania.

UTI Facility Management is an authorized partner of the British manufacturer of X-ray detection technology Smiths Detection.

The company said in a press release quoted by Agerpres that state-of-the-art CT baggage screening equipment with X-ray technology and automatic explosive detection algorithms will be installed at Cluj-Napoca International Airport this year. 

Also, for the Iasi International Airport, the company delivered and put into operation equipment for scanning hold baggage with CT technology and algorithms for automatic detection of liquid explosive substances. The same technologies will be functional at the airport in Suceava, starting with October 2020.

At the same time, at the end of this year, baggage control at the "Henri Coanda" Bucharest International Airport will be performed with Smiths Detection high-performance equipment. Also, to ensure security at Bucharest Baneasa - Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, UTI Facility Management implements a security project that involves the installation of hold baggage scanning equipment according to the latest aeronautical standards, and the contract will be finalized at the end of the year, Agerpres reported.

The company also contributes to the construction and endowment with state-of-the-art security systems of the Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport.
