Bosch invests EUR 110 mln in washing machine factory in Romania
Appliance producer BSH Hausgeräte, which is part of German group Bosch, will invest some EUR 110 million in a washing machine factory in Simeria, Western Romania.
The company has purchased a 40-hectare land plot for the construction of this factory. The construction of the production hall, logistics center and administrative buildings should start this year, according to the company.
Bosch plans to start production at this factory in 2020. Starting 2022, the factory will reach a production capacity of one million washing machines for the European market. The factory will create 700 jobs in the next years.
BSH Hausgeräte is one of the biggest appliance producers in the world, with sales of EUR 13.8 billion and 61,800 employees worldwide in 2017. BSH’s local subsidiary has been active on the Romanian market since 1999. It sells appliance under the brands Bosch, Zeff and Zelmer in Romania and had a turnover of EUR 41.5 million in 2016, according to official data.
Bosch is the second international appliance producer to open a washing machine factory in Romania after Turkish group Arcelik, which will open a factory at Ulmi, in Dambovita county.
