Bucharest-based notary public arrested for EUR 2.8 mln tax evasion
A Bucharest-based notary public was arrested for tax evasion, with a damage of over EUR 2.8 million, after he failed to pay taxes for five years.
Remus Ion-Zamfirescu, legal representative of the notary office Notas, damaged the state budget between January 2009 and September 2014 by intentionally not paying taxes and contributions, within 30 days of the due date, resulting in EUR 2.8 million unrecovered damages, according to the press release issued by the Prosecutor near the Court of Appeal, cited by local Mediafax.
The notary was detained and arrested yesterday following a Court of Appeal decision.
