French retailer Carrefour posted sales of EUR 265 million in the second quarter of the year in Romania, which was a drop of 5.8 percent compared to the same period of last year, excluding currency exchange rate impact. These are its sales in local currency. The group's like-for-like sales were down by 7.2 percent.

Turkish Provus Services Provider has bought local card operator RomCard from its shareholders BCR, BRD, Raiffeisen Bank, UniCredit Tiriac Bank and Financiara, according to Deloitte, which assisted the sale along with the Reff & Associates team. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

A&D Pharma has opened the third Anima private clinic in Bucharest, in Pantelimon area of the city, the company has announced. The 600-sqm clinic includes 14 medical offices. A&D Pharma has opened two similar units in Victoriei and Titan areas of Bucharest earlier this year, when the Anima brand was launched.

More companies decided to cancel their business activity in Romania in the first half of this year than in the same period of last year, according to data from the National Trade Registry (ONRC). There was a whooping six times increase in the number of firms which filed for voluntary cancellation of their business, to 118,000. The amount also includes automatic cancellations.
