Carrefour to open two new hypermarkets in Romania next year
French retailer Carrefour will open two new hypermarkets in 2011, one in Bucharest, within the Colosseum shopping center in North West of the city and one in Botosani. For this year, three more supermarket openings are expected for Carrefour.
The Botosani store will be located within the Botosani Shopping Center and will be developed in partnership with Hendrik Danneels and Piet Van Waes, who have also developed the shopping center in Drobeta Turnu Severin, also featuring a Carrefour unit. The store in Botosani will cover 7,000 sqm of sales area. The project will also include a shopping galleria with a leasable area of 9,500 sqm.
The Carrefour store in the Colosseum mall will feature a sales area of 8,500 sqm on Sos. Chitilei – Bucurestii Noi area of the capital city. Carrefour currently runs 23 hypermarkets in Romania and 29 supermarkets under the brand Carrefour Market.
