CIECH Soda adds 400kWp PV park to its Romanian factory
CIECH Soda Romania, a subsidiary of the Polish CIECH group, announced it started the production of solar energy, following an investment of RON 1.7 million (EUR 340,000) in a photovoltaic park.
The production facility spans a surface of nearly 2,000 square metres, Economica.net reported.
The Romanian company suspended its main activity, namely soda ash production, in 2019 due to a lack of a stable steam supplier. It currently produces liquid silicates, an important raw material for the tire industry, detergents industry, paper industry, in the production of chemicals used in construction and for materials used in welding.
CIECH Soda Romania’s turnover plummeted to EUR 3 mln in 2022 from EUR 90 mln in 2018, while its personnel shrunk from 589 to only 50.
