Centrul Medical Unirea and the recently acquired Euroclinic have together re-branded under the name Regina Maria and plan to invest EUR 12 million in opening clinics in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta and Bacau, as well as a private hospital in the Baneasa area of Bucharest. The private medical services operator plans to create a medical campus in the Baneasa area of Bucharest, similarly to the ones it runs in Brasov and Bacau, according to Fady Chreih, executive director of Regina Maria (in picture).

Following the re-branding process, the Regina Maria maternity will be re-named Regina Maria Obstretics and Gynecology Hospital. CMU Kids will become Regina Maria the Polyclinic for Kids, while the Euroclinic hospital will become Regina Maria the Euroclinic Hospital. Stem-Health Unirea will also be part of the Regina Maria private healthcare chain.

CMU, controlled by investment fund Advent International, took over Euroclinic from Eureko last year. The chain has six hospitals and over 20 polyclinics countrywide, working with 1,000 doctors.

CMU posted an estimated EUR 30 million turnover last year and plans to double it in the next two to three years, according to Romanian media. CMU has recently taken three loans from Raiffeisen Bank totaling EUR 18.32 million, to expand its network with a hospital and three clinics. Some of the amount will also be used to new equipments and for hiring medical staff, as CMU plans to double its staff.
