CMU makes EUR 10 mln from health services in H1
Private health care operator Centrul Medical Unirea (CMU) posted EUR 10 million in revenues in the first half of the year, a 36 percent improvement on the same period of last year. CMU's Regina Maria maternity grew its turnover more than two fold during this period.
“Our business strategy, following the Advent takeover, was to achieve a maximum of efficiency in 2010, which is seen as a critical year on starting new investments. […] We have taken full advantage of the opportunities and we want to start greenfield projects which will become functional in 2011,” said Sergiu Negut, deputy general manager with CMU.
CMU plans to open a new clinic in Bucharest soon and will start works on the new CMU hospital. The new clinic will be located in Dorobanti area. By the end of the year, CMU will invest EUR 3.5 million in a clinic in Brasov, as well as open a clinic within SunPlaza.
CMU hasd80,000 subscribers to its services, as of June this year.
CMU shareholders sold an 80 percent stake in the company to investment fund Advent in March this year. Founder Wargha Enayati, kept a 20 percent share package and stayed as general manager of CMU.
The company runs 11 polyclinics in Bucharest, two hospitals and seven polyclinics in other cities in the country, and partners with 130 other clinics in Romania.
