CMU opens EUR 4.2 mln private medical compound in Brasov

Private medical care operator CMU has opened a 3,000 sqm medical compound in Brasov, following an investment of EUR 4.2 million. The project, called Campusul Medical Brasov, was set up in partnership with local medical care provider Teo Health.

The compound includes surgery hospital, gynecology hospital, pediatrics, polyclinic, imagistic and laboratory services. It includes 19 medical rooms and employs 50 doctors. The polyclinic services will be available from December 20 this year, while the hospital, from January next year.

CMU expects 10,000 patients for the compound for the first year of activity, according to Costin Stefan, director of the Campusul Medical Brasov. CMU currently runs three hospitals, 23 polyclinics in Bucharest and across the country and work with over 1,000 doctors.

CMU, majority owned by investment fund Advent International, has recently announced the merger with Euroclinic Hospital and Medical Centers. Advent International has taken over the majority share package in Euroclinic from Dutch group Eureko.

CMU shareholders, Wargha Enayati and private equity company 3i, sold an 80 percent stake in the company to investment fund Advent in March this year. Founder Wargha Enayati kept a 20 percent share package and the general manager position. CMU posted a turnover of EUR 10 million in the first half of the year.
