Conde Nast Traveler lists 21 beautiful places in Romania
Romania is known as country with many beautiful places to visit, from medieval castles to charming towns and churches, and luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler has drawn up a list of 21 local places tourists should see.
“Marked by such geographical wonders as the Carpathian Mountains and Black Sea, the country's dense forests and snow-capped peaks are perfect settings for the folklore that emanates from nearly every region (Transylvania, anyone?). Whether it's a hotel made of ice, an underground amusement park, or Dracula's Castle, one thing's for sure—these 21 sites are as eerie as they are beautiful,” reads the description of the 21 Beautiful Places in Romania feature published by Conde Nast Traveler.
The list opens with the beautiful medieval town of Sighisoara, and continues with Lacul Rosu in the Eastern Carpathians, Bran Castle (also known as Dracula’s Castle), the famous high-altitude road Transfagarasan, Salina Turda, the Sarmizegetusa Regia archeological site – which was recently reopened after restoration, the statue of King Decebalus, the Culture Palace in Targu Mures, Balea Lake in Fagaras Mountains, and the Hotel of Ice at Balea Lake – which attracts many tourists in the winter season.
Conde Nast Traveler also recommends the Ceahlau Massif, the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta, the Danube Delta, the Corvin Castle, the Western Romania city of Timisoara, the Casino in Constanta, Cheile Nerei-Beusnita National Park, Vidraru Dam, the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Brasov – one of the most popular mountain resorts in Romania, and the beautiful city of Sibiu.
