Looking for rare diamond jewels? The Romanian tax agency has some interesting items

02 September 2016

Romania’s tax agency ANAF has dozens of jewels with natural diamonds on stock, their total value amounting to some EUR 30,000, reports local Wall-street.ro.

Some jewels have been confiscated by ANAF’s anti-fraud division while others have reached the state treasury following court decisions or cases of “vacant succession,” which means that the owner died and left no heirs or testament behind, in which case the goods have been taken by the state.

Among the diamond jewelry in ANAF’s stock there is a gold cross with four natural diamonds, five natural emeralds, and four lapis lazuli, with a weight of 47 grams, which has a value of RON 5,205 (over EUR 1,100). The collection also includes a gold wristwatch with natural diamonds – RON 17,550 (almost EUR 4,000), a gold necklace with natural diamonds – RON 14,130 (EUR 3,200), a gold ring with natural diamonds – RON 10,575 (EUR 2,400), and a gold ring with two natural diamonds and one natural emerald – RON 16,905 (EUR 3,800).

The precious metals on ANAF’s stock lists, as well as other goods in this category, are not kept in the tax agency’s safes, but are stored at the State Treasury.

Besides jewels, the tax agency has many other items on stock, including cars and equipment, and all sorts of other items and merchandise confiscated by its inspectors.

Cluj-Napoca-based software company Blugento has offered to make a modern online store for ANAF, for free. The company already submitted an official proposal in this sense to the tax agency.

Its initiative came after the Romanian Government launched GovITHub, a program that aims to bring together all the entrepreneurs who want to contribute to the digitization of public services, to facilitate and streamline the relationship between citizens and state institutions. Blugento representatives were among the entrepreneurs who attended the program’s launch.

ANAF would use the online shop to sell the goods it has on stock more easily.
