EIB grants Romania EUR 300 mln for environmental projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted Romania a loan of EUR 300 million to support environmental projects within the European financing programme for the 2014-2020 period.

Finance Minister Anca Dragu and the vice-president of the European Investment Bank Cristian Popa signed the contract in Luxembourg yesterday. The loan will be used to co-finance projects with a total value of EUR 4.5 billion. It will partly cover the state’s contribution.

The projects are in the field of water and wastewater, waste management, protection and conservation of biodiversity, restoration of degraded ecosystems, and adaptation to climate change.
