The number of Romanians who emigrated stands at 2.7 million this year, accounting for 13.1 percent of the population, but is expected to drop considerable on the long term, in 10 -15 years, as Romania converges toward Europe, according to the World Bank. Most Romanians emigrated to Italy, Spain, Hungary, Israel, USA, Germany, Canada, Austria, France and the UK.

Romania’s Economy Ministry has drafted a bill that would compel energy suppliers to inform consumers on the origins of the electricity they are selling. "It's possible that consumers may want to choose their suppliers based also on the fuel mixture used to produce the electricity, given that renewable energy might be exempted from excise duties," the ministry said in the bill's rationale.

Romanian company Televoice has launched Evobook, a Romanian e-reader which will sell for EUR 150 from December this year. The electronic reader, which runs on an e-ink technology, will include 120 books in Romanian and around 20 in English and French at first and will allow readers to keep up to 4,000 books on its 2GB internal memory.
