EU funds for development worth 2.8 bln will be granted to Romanian cities in the next six years

05 June 2014

Romanian cities will be able to access EUR 2.8 billion worth of European funds for development in the next six years (2014-2020) according to Regional Development and Administration minister Liviu Dragnea.

He said that all Romanian cities, big or small, will be able to apply for this money, and not just large urban development poles, like it was until now, according to Mediafax.

“I’m very interested that all small and medium towns to be able to access these funds, because it’s the only chance for urban regeneration,” Dragnea mentioned in a meeting with mayors in the northern county of Suceava.

He warned city mayors to prepare eligible projects in order to apply for these funds as soon as possible. Most of the money is for infrastructure projects.
