American company Yahoo will launch its e-mail service in Romanian and its Yahoo.ro page in Romania in March this year, according to Mihai Fanache, manager of Media Cafe, the company that sells advertising on Yahoo's websites in Romania, quoted by Romanian online publication Wall-street.ro.
The Romanian Competition Council has fined telecom companies Orange and Vodafone Romania with EUR 63 million for abusing their dominant position on the market, following an investigation which started in 2006. The investigation was opened after the complaint from NetMaster, according to the Competition Council.
American pharmaceutical company Pfizer will buy the Danish food supplements producer Ferrosan Consumer Health, which owns a factory on the Romanian market, in Cluj – Napoca. The deal is expected to be closed in the second half of the year and will mark Pfizer's direct entry on production in Romania, after being present on the market only as importer.
Romania will allot EUR 15 million to hospitals this year for IT&C projects, according to Romanian Communications Minister Valerian Vreme.The Communications Ministry will spend as much as EUR 400,000 per hospital to outfit around 40 units, said Vreme.
Romania will not draw the last installment of its loan from the International Monetary Fund, of EUR 1 billion, and will use only the disbursement from the European Union, Romanian president Traian Basescu said on Sunday evening.

Initially set out as a safety net loan, the money proved to be life saving. But, as with any loans, this came with a set of strict conditions and paved the way for another loan, expected for 2011.
