US company Energiz Renewable has started a joint venture with Canadian company World Renewable Energy Group's local subsidiary (WREG) for several projects in Romania, pending on receiving government grants and finding private financing, romania-insider.com has learned. The company wants to built two solar panels factories in Romania, an investment of USD 64 million, according to Edward T. Whelan, head of Energiz Renewable, quoted by Romanian media.

Mercadia Holland, a company controlled by Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu, has taken over discount retailer MiniMAX DISCOUNT, in a deal whose value was not revealed. The 31-unit network used to be controlled by Austrian Real4You and two individuals, Rainer Exel and Andreas Kampf.

Romanian car brand Dacia, which is now being produced by French Renault, is the subject of a recent photo story published by Time magazine. Under the headline “The Dacia, the Romanian car that could”, Time magazine goes through the history of Dacia, calling it a 'cult classic'. “The car's design remained basically unchanged for 35 years, outlasting both the Ceaucescus and their Soviet masters,” writes Time.

The Anonimul Film Festival, which will start on August 9 in Sfantu Gheorghe, in Delta Dunarii, will feature a movie which was included in the official competition in Cannes this year – Certified Copy, with Juliette Binoche playing the main character. (Trailer below) A second film, Temple Grandin, with 15 nominations at the Emmy Awards, will also be screened in the Anonimul Film festival (trailer below)

While 'the eternal flame in Andreiasu' is the generic name, there's more than one flame burning in Vrancea county, where Andreiasu mountain locality is located.

It all starts with gaseous hydrocarbons emissions – some of which have the so-called 'spontaneous combustion'. Which means the gas will turn to flames once it reaches the air, but they can also be ignited
