14 March 2011

The Romanian Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has received a list of 12 Romanians who have around EUR 60 million in Swiss bank accounts, according to Sorin Blejnar, head of ANAF. The agency is analyzing whether they paid their taxes on their obtained interest.

“We are working at a database so we can find out if they really cashed in the money so that we can tax them,” according to Blejnar. Andreea Paul Vass, the personal advisor of Romanian prime minister Emil Boc, also confirmed that ANAF received information about those accounts, and said that if those people didn’t declare their income to the ANAF, they will suffer the consequences.
