FlorideLux.ro: Romanian flower market to slightly drop to EUR 190 million in 2013
Romania’s flower market is expected to slightly drop to EUR 190 million this year, compared to 2012 when the 2,000 active flower shops shared a EUR 200 million market.
The sector is also continuing its move towards online sales, according to CEO and founder of FlorideLux.ro flower shops Marius Dosinescu.
“The online flower market represented 2.5 percent of the entire industry, and in terms of value, some EUR 2.5 million,” Dosinescu said.
From the more than 2,000 flower shops registered at the Romanian Trade Registry 1,900 are traditional shops, while 130 are active online.
Online flower shops’ sales increased by up to 30 percent year-on-year, mainly due to the fact Romanians have started to prefer online purchases.
Romanian online flower shop FlorideLux.ro estimates total sales of EUR 75,000 between September and November this year, according to the company.
“FlorideLux.ro flower shops hold a 25 percent market share, other major players share 60 percent, while the rest of 120 flower shops hold a 15 percent share,” Dosinescu said.
