Foreign direct investments, down to EUR 800 mln in Romania in first five months

Foreign direct investments to Romania went downwards by 23.3 percent in the first five months of the year, to EUR 800 million, according to the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). Most of the investments were covered by loans within the group. The investments covered 43.9 percent of the current account deficit in the first five months in Romania. The drop in FDI kept a similar trend as in the first quarter of the year.

Loans within the group covered EUR 682 million in the total FDI, while participation to capital consolidated with net loss was of EUR 117 million. Last year, Romania recorded EUR 2.6 billion in foreign direct investments, a drop of 25 percent on the previous year.
