Foreign tourists spend EUR 240 mln in Romania in Q1
The total number of foreign tourists who stayed in local hotels and guest houses in the first quarter of this year amounted to 480,300 and their total spending reached RON 1.13 billion (EUR 243 million), according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The number of foreign tourists increased by 7.7% compared to the first quarter of 2017 while the total spending went up by 9.7%.
Over 63% of the foreign tourists came for business and their spending also represented 63% of the total spending. More than half of the foreign tourists’ expenses went on accommodation (breakfast included).
