Free hugs this week-end in downtown Bucharest
Spring will start with free hugs in Bucharest. Grupul Nefiresc, an organization which puts together unconventional events, will offer free hugs in downtown Romania’s capital on Saturday, February 28.
The organizers invite participants to offer free hugs as well, and wear t-shirts labeled Free Hugs. The event will start at 15,00 near the National Theater in Universitate Square, close to the metro exit.
The Free Hug initiative came to life in 2004. An Australian nicknamed Juan Mann started the movement. The main event concept revolves around hugging strangers, in an age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact.
The Romanian group which organizes this event locally has put together other unconventional events, such as the Human Metro Freeze or No Pants Subway Ride. They want to organize free hugs sessions regularly.
