Gaudeamus Book Fair in Bucharest attracts record number of visitors this year

The Gaudeamus Book Fair in Bucharest attracted a record number of visitors this year – 125,000, remaining one of the most important events of this kind in Romania. The visitors spent some EUR 3.2 million at the fair.

Gaudeamus ended on Sunday, November 22, after five days of book launches, debates, and other events. It gathered some 300 participants this year and hosted more than 700 events.

Humanitas, Rao, and Nemira got the Gaudeamus Trophies this year, after receiving the largest number of votes from the public. Moreover, The Lost Bible/Biblia Pierduta by Igor Bergler, was the most wanted book.

Radio Romania organizes the fair every year at Romexpo, in an exhibit space of some 14,000 sqm. The most wanted book of the 2014 edition of the fair was Step by Step (Pas cu Pas), the autobiography of Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis.

Romanian novel “The Lost Bible” registers record sales.
