Hotels and restaurants in Romania ask for more time to get safety approval
Over 60% of all hotels and restaurants in Romania don’t have the approval of the Emergency Situations Inspectorate - ISU, said Dragos Petrescu, president of the employers' organizations in the HORECA sector, which is called HORA.
The deadline to obtain this approval, namely January 1, next year, is too short, and this would block the activity of all hotels, restaurants and bars, Petrescu added, reports local Agerpres.
Hotel and restaurants operators should have a time frame of six months to get the ISU approval after submitting their file. During this period, their activity should continue, said Petrescu.
Mohammad Murad, one of the largest hotel owners in Romania and the president of the Romanian Tourism Employers Federation (FPTR), said that over 80% of the hotels in Romania were secure based on the ISU norms.
The authorities have imposed the deadline for getting the ISU approval after the tragedy which took place in a Bucharest club on October 30, after which 56 people died and 156 were injured. The club, which caught fire during a concert, didn’t have the ISU approval.
