Hungarian Internal Affairs minister: Romania and Bulgaria will not join Schengen area in March
Romania and Bulgaria will not join the Schengen area in March this year, as it was initially planned, according to the Hungarian Internal Affairs minister Sandor Pinter. The two countries will most likely join the Schengen area in October the earliest. By June, it will be clearer what the criteria are for the two countries joining. Romania and Bulgaria joining the Schengen area are on the work schedule for the Hungarian presidency of the European Union, which started on January 1 this year.
