Investments in economy up 9 percent in Romania last year
Investments in Romania's economy went up by 9.2 percent last year on 2010, to EUR 15.2 billion, according to data recently released by the country's Statistics Institute (INS).
Half of the investments resulted in new construction work, while some EUR 6.2 billion went to equipment, including for transport.
Industry covered the bulk of investments, some 42.8 percent, followed by trade and services, some 33.4 percent, construction – 17.9 percent and agriculture, 2.4 percent.
In the fourth quarter of the year, investments went up even more- up 22.4 percent on the fourth quarter of 2010, to some EUR 5.8 billion, accounting for almost one third of the total yearly investments.
