Jawbone study: Romanians, Russians & Ukrainians party the hardest on New Year’s Eve

30 December 2014

Romanians stay up late on New Year’s Eve to celebrate, so they are among those who party the hardestduring that night, according to a recent study by Jawbone, the wearable fitness tracker producer. Romanians stay up until 4am, ranking first in the world.  Then come Russians, who sgo to bed at  3.30 am.

Moscow residents party the hardest on New Year’s Eve- they go to bed at 3.43am. Russia, with Ukraine and Romania, stay up later than any other country in the world, according to Jawbone. In Russia, the NYE is a superholiday, while in China and in Israel, residents go to bed earlier.

The United States isn’t quite as enthusiastic about the New Year as some of the rest of the world. Almost 30% of Americans are asleep by midnight, while Australia ns get the most sleep, according to the study.

This study was based on hundreds of thousands of UP wearers who track their sleep using UP by Jawbone. All data is anonymized and presented in aggregate. The results of the study for Romania however might not be as accurate, as wearable fitness bracelets are not yet very popular in the country. Jawbone has not released any data on the number of polled users in each country.
