Kaufland opens charging stations for electric cars in Romania

05 April 2016

German retailer Kaufland will soon open a network of charging stations for electric cars within some of its local stores. It will be the first such network in Romania.

The first station will be opened on Thursday at Kaufland Barbu Vacarescu in Bucharest, where the company’s headquarters are also located, reports local Economica.net.

Electric cars represent less than 1% of the global car market, but their sales are growing faster than any other segment, including in Romania. The local sales reaches about three cars per month last year, up by 120% compared to 2014.

Tesla Motors, the US producer of electric cars, has received over 253,000 orders in the first 36 hours after launching the new car Model 3, at an average price of USD 42,000.
