Works on the underground car park in Universitate area in Bucharest have been slowed down by the discovery of 300 years old ruins, believed to be the premises of the Sfantu Sava Academy. Archeologists have been granted permission to unearth the ruins, but the Bucharest City Hall, which works on building the car park, says this will not affect the entire project, as they could incorporate the ruins into the car park.

U.S. Bechtel, the company that is building Romania’s Transylvania Highway plans to sack over 800 employees working on the highway, arguing the construction area is not ready for further works and the Romanian state has not paid its debts for works in 2010.

The largest work of the painter Nicolae Tonitza (1886-1940) entitled "Golgotha" was sold, in Bucharest, for EUR 125,000 euros, at an Artmark auction "12 +1 Impressionist masterpieces from private collections", at the Ghika Palace on Thursday evening. "Golgotha" has one square meter dimension and is the largest work of Nicolae Tonitza auctioned on the Romanian art market.
